in Kyrgyzstan
A round table on Quality Standards for Quality Child care (based on Q4C standards) was held in Kyrgyzstan, in May 2008. It was organized by the SOS Children Villages Kyrgyzstan and State Child Care Department of Kyrgyzstan. The purpose of a round table is to carry out of the constructive dialogue and to elaborate the recommendations on introduction of the National out-of-home standards.
The Ministry of Labor assured that they had lots of information about standards but they are still not aware of what would be the best for Kyrgyzstan needs. As a result the alternative working group on creation of the National out-of-home care standards was created. The participants of the round table were parted into 3 groups, each preparing their vision of the National out-of-home care standards.
The Ministry of Labor and the Child Care Department elaborated the design of the National Foster family standards. This document was sent to submit for consideration to the government. The National Foster family standards are one of the ways of the Q4C implementation.
