Q4C Implementation Toolkit

Dear reader,

You've heard about the Q4C Standards…
You were involved in developing the Q4C Standards…
You want to use the Q4C Standards to raise the quality of child care in your country…

…and you need to know more about the history of the Standards, about the methodology used to translate life stories into Standards, about the people involved and the countries that carried out the project, about what others said and thought about the Standards…

…then this tool kit CAN HELP YOU!

It is human nature to search for better and more. When it comes to the Q4C project, the wish for better conditions and more quality in child care around Europe brought together no less than 500 people from 32 countries for almost three years of work.

“If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.” (Mahatma Gandhi). The Q4C tool kit should support and encourage you to use your experience and, if necessary, acquire the capacities still needed to apply the Q4C Standards in your work. Various documents guide you through the three years of progress in developing the Q4C Standards and give you a complete picture of what has already been communicated about the Q4C Standards. Another set of documents summarises reflections and positions on child care and protection inspired by the Q4C Standards. And, last but not least, there are recommendations for those who plan to use the Q4C Standards in advocating quality care in their countries.

So, open up the tool kit now and let yourself be inspired! Today could be the issue on the participation of children and young people in the project or the pan-European character of the Standards. Tomorrow you might be curious to find out why Nigel Cantwell thinks that the Q4C Standards have made a difference to the UN Guidelines that are almost ready to be adopted! And every day you might want to go a step further in making child care in your country comply with the Q4C quality care Standards.

Nevertheless, this tool kit is a living library and your inputs are welcome. Please send your comments and suggestions to quality4children@sos-kd.org

Good luck and let yourself be inspired!
