Presentation of the Q4C Standards and of the book “Fremd und doch zu Hause”

Fremd und doch zu hause (Not at my place and yet at home) is the title of a book on the subject of "Quality standards in out-of-home care", which was also the motto of an event taking place in Vienna on March 4th, 2008. In the FamilienRAThaus ("family council building") of SOS Children's Villages Austria some 50 people from the field of youth welfare and NGOs met to listen to two lectures on quality care and quality standards in out-of-home care.

Monika Niederle from the Fédération Internationale des Communautés Educatives (FICE) presented the Quality4Children standards and talked about the current state of development regarding the implementation of the standards.

The second lecturer was Regina Wintersperger, psychologist at the SOS Children's Village Stübing/Styria. She dealt with the subject of "My new home. Being (un)happy to grow up in different systems". Children who have to leave their own family often get in a state of conflict between the loyality towards their original family and the desire to feel at home.

SOS Children's Villages Austria will include the Q4C Standards into their Standards by 2011
